to Know and be known
a poem
It is a necessity to know who you are.
It is not necessary to have the nicest clothes
or the coolest car.
But it is of utmost importance to know who you are.
There is a voice who jumps the wall
It is a sound more destructive than them all.
It’s the accuser raising opinions, always false
for he has a fear of the ones God has lovingly called.
You’ve been created with a sound
something the enemy tries to turn down.
The Lord laughs in the Heavens without a frown
knowing only He can define the sheep He has found.
When you’re given over to the good shepherd,
you’re made perfect by his word,
found only in his righteous worth
safe, known, seen and fully heard.
He has unending thoughts towards you
whether you are near or terribly far,
out of his hand the thief cannot snatch you
only the Lord can tell you who you truly are.
He is not naive to the things you hear
He is more than able and always near.
There is a reason we look alone to Christ
for he paid the price to bring us back to life.
He knows your need to be known.
He knows your longing for a safe place to go.
He knows when your high or disastrously low.
Your only job is to know the knower who knew you before you could even know to be known.
